Brush Chipping, Compost & Yard Waste Site

Yard Waste Site: Highridge Road

Resident Charles Kramer offers his private facility to Village residents to drop off their lawn waste and leaves. He used to offer other services but due to "abuse" he has now further restircted this site. We respectfully request that people using this site only drop off yard waste/leaves. Karmers site is located behind the barn. Drive into his driveway at the end of Highridge and turn right and drive forward toward the end  of the barn located to the right. Do not drop off brush, trash, furniture or other items. Veolia (983-3341) should be contacted for bulk item pick up.

The Village picks up brush and branches the last Thursday of each month. On brush pick-up day, the cut end of branches should be placed facing the curb.

Brush and Curbside Yard Waste Pickup Rules & Schedules

BRUSH INFORMATION & SCHEDULE

The Village of Denmark Public Works Department will be starting our spring, summer, and fall curbside brush pick-up on the LAST Thursday of each month beginning in April until November 1st.
Please observe the following rules when placing materials out for collection:

  • Brush up to 3" in diameter is acceptable in lengths no greater than 12 feet.
  • Brush up to 6" in diameter is acceptable in lengths no greater than 8 feet.
  • Brush greater than 6" in diameter cannot be accepted at the curb. Larger brush including stumps is the responsibility of the homeowner.
  • Avoid cutting brush shorter than needed as fewer pieces are less handling for crews.
  • Lay brush in piles at the curb with the branches lying parallel to the street. All branches should be laying in the same direction.
  • Please do not put brush at the curb any sooner than one week prior to the collection day.
  • Brush must be at the curb prior to the Thursday that brush is scheduled to be picked up. Brush not at the curb by the time crews come past will be left till the next pick-up or will be billed for us to come back at a later date.
  • Lawn wastes (grass, leaves and garden materials) will not be taken. These materials need to be taken to the Village designated compost drop site. This area  is located on Chuck Kramer's property at the end of Highridge Ave. (North of the Highridge Baseball diamond).
  • Clearing of brush on lots for the intent to build or sell the lot will not be picked up. The intent of the pickup is to provide for disposal of brush generated as a result of routine yard maintenance.  If excessive amounts of brush are placed at the curb, the brush may be refused or a fee will be charged for the work. Entire trees cut down are the homeowner's responsibility to remove and cleanup.

YARD WASTE INFORMATION & SCHEDULE

Curbside pick-up of leaves, grass clippings, and garden waste will begin on April 13, 2009 and will end on May 15, 2009 on Mondays and Fridays.
Please observe the following rules when placing materials out for collection:

  • Waste material should be placed within five feet of curb. If there is excess material place it in a windrow along the curb. This will help the public works crews to be more efficient and allow them to pick-up more in one day.
  • Bagged grass, leaves, and garden waste will not be picked up. The home owner will be responsible for taking the material to the Village designated compost drop site. This area is located on Chuck Kramer's property at the end of Highridge Ave. (North of the Highridge Baseball diamond).

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Rob at 362-7983 or Dave 680-2793.  Questions can also be directed to the Village Hall at 863-6400, 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

Fall curbside collection of loose leaves, grass clippings, and garden waste usually begins on the third week of October and continues through mid-November. Leaf collection is planned for Mondays and Fridays of each week. The material should be placed at the curb, (not in the street) in separate piles and shold not be commingled with branches or garbage. Bagged material or commingled material will not be collected by the village. If residents wish to bag their yard waste, they will be responsible for disposing of it.

Brush, shrubs, trees and Christmas trees

Brush, shrubs, tees, Christmas trees and branches are to be placed curbside with the larger/biggest ends facing the curb. These materials are picked up the last Thursday of each month on a year round basis. Please do not place these items at the curb earlier than a few days before the scheduled pick up. Help us to keep our Village looking attractive. Dried out trees or branches placed for an extended period of time at the curb creates an unsightly appearance for a neighborhood.
